Went here for the first time today on the recommendation of my niece and her fiancé. We went on a Saturday night around 6 PM. Parking was scarce; there is no offstreet parking. Fortunately, we found a spot close to the entrance. The inside was relatively small. It wasn't too crowded or noisy. We did find out that we needed reservations in order to be seated at a table. Not sure if this is a "Saturday night" only thing? They offered us a spot at the bar, which was fine with us. It quickly got busy in there right after we were seated, so service was a little slow, but not unreasonable. Our party of 4 all enjoyed our food & drinks. Hubby and I split an order of Gyoza; it was a special that day. I got the lobster Ramen (also a special) and hubby got the duck thigh Ramen. My only complaint is I requested it to be extra spicy, and it truly wasn't spicy at all. They offered me chili oil and red pepper flakes which helped, but I do wish it packed a little more of a punch. Can't go by me, though; I've been told my spice is broken...lol! We also tried a few hot sake cocktails. I never knew that was a thing! Delicious! I'd say price was fair for this type of establishment. Staff was friendly. Place appeared clean. I'd come back again.
I'm continuing my hunt for the best ramen in Rhode Island, and of course my search led me to Wara Wara on Hope Street. I think this is the closest ramen I've found in our little state to match the authentic quality Japanese ramen I can get in New York. This is a cute and modern location with tons of windows and fresh, Asian-influenced decor. They boast several flavors of ramen along with specials that often include lobster and quahog ramen for some local flavor. I recently went and they had a special appetizer of tempura green beans that were honestly, so good I could have eaten three plates of that. I hope it becomes a permanent menu item. The ramen itself has a tasty broth that is mild to medium on spice. It's packed with noodles and veggies and topped with an egg and fresh seaweed sheets that's as good to eat as it is to look at. As much as I do enjoy it, I think it's a little shy on the flavor of other ramen I've had, but it's so close it's worth trying.
If you're in the mood for a good bowl of ramen you should consider wara wara! This place is always packed and has a great selection of delicious eats. I was especially impressed by the duck thigh that came with the duck ramen!
This was my family and my first time at Wara Wara (4/6 @2:30). It was a party of five. Three of us ordered the Lobster Ramen, one TanTan, Oysters, Kimchi, popcorn chicken, sticky rice, and calamari. Our waiter (I forgot his name) was kind, patient, and professional. The calamari wasn't fresh, and they did remove it from our bill. Other than that minor hiccup, the food was delicious! The drinks from the bar were terrific, too. I recommend the lemon drop martini and the margaritas. I look forward to coming back!
We decided to return for dinner with two friends hoping for a better experience than the last time. Thankfully it was better as we like the place. The dishes are interesting - a fusion of different tastes. We shared a half rack of ribs, Japanese mushrooms, sautéed Choy medley , calamari, crispy cauliflower, and chili edamame- all of which were tasty. We finished everything and had no place for dessert. We had various drinks. I tried a Proclamation Milk Stout for the first time and didn't like it. The place is noisy! Perhaps we should go to a quieter place for conversation. Our server, Paula, was like most of the staff there cheerful and efficient. We will return.
Wara Wara is a Hope St. Favorite of ours. Recently, we had a lovely dinner of pork gyoza, a chicken ramen and a tan tan men ramen main, and a dessert of green tea matcha lava cake. All three courses were fantastic. We've come for ramen many times, and it's consistently great. Of particular note was the green tea matcha lava cake. It was a special, and it truly was special. So much flavor, the core was totally molten the surrounding was perfectly textured cake. The indoor ambiance is fun. A little dark with a lot of decor. There are also generally a few outdoor tables when the weather is good. One thing that sets Wara Wara apart is the baby changing table in the bathroom. I don't see that at restaurants often, but it seems extremely considerate.
Hadn't been here in a while and the food didn't disappoint. We shared some of the small plates. Standouts we're the Brussels sprouts, salmon teriyaki and popcorn chicken. Vegetable bun looked delicious, but a bit too spicy for me. Our waiter got all the food and drinks out quickly. The way we were greeted upon entering left a bit to be desired, but glad we decided to stay. Definitely make a reservation-it was crowded and we were glad we had. Would definitely go back.
